Energy Balance Analysis Rule Overview
Use the Energy Balance Analysis Rule to reconcile and balance concurrently mass and energy quantities in a process network. This analysis rule relates any quantity with a specific energy. This analysis rule refers to mass as the quantity. In addition to mass, any pair of extensive properties can be balanced if they are related by an intensive property such as specific energy. The Energy Balance Analysis Rule supports energy balances around node, process, and heat exchanger elements. Reconciled energy statistics are calculated for these objects, as well as the flows attached to these objects.
The following \topics describe how to configure the Energy Balance Analysis Rule for use in the Analysis Framework. Instances of this analysis rule can be applied to the same model, given different contexts, and applied to different Models within the database. You can configure the Energy Balance Analysis Rule in two ways; either graphically or programmatically.
- Energy Balance Analysis Requirements
- Energy Balance Rule Methodology
- Reviewing the Analysis Rule Results
- Energy Balance Examples
- Configuring - Energy Balance Analysis Rule
- Running an Energy Balance Analysis / Viewing Results
- Using the SF_EnergyBalance Table
Note: The Energy Balance Analysis Rule recommends the use of elements based on the Sigmafine Element Templates. For more information see the following section "Energy Balance Analysis Requirements."
After the Energy Balance Analysis Rule is configured you can create a Case and run an energy balance analysis on the case.
